Tesla recalling 80,561 cars in China

Tesla Inc. is recalling 80,561 cars in China as a result of software and seat belt issues, the country's State Administration for Market Regulation said on Friday.

The regulator noted that 67,698 imported Model S and Model X vehicles produced between 2013 and 2020 are being recalled over an issue that affects the battery management system of the cars, while 2,736 imported Model 3 vehicles made in 2019 and 10,127 China-produced Model 3 cars are begin recalled over potentially faulty seat belts. The company will fix the issues in affected cars free of charge.

Earlier in the day, Australia announced the electric carmaker recalled 15,914 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles sold in the country in 2022.
