US closes mostly lower amid economic data, eyes on Powell
Major US stock markets closed mostly lower on Tuesday amid the release of new economic reports. Investors are also looking ahead to data due out this week on gross domestic product and employment, as well as the speech of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Today the Conference Board announced that consumer confidence continued to decline in November, coming at 100.2, and according to S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller, home prices in all nine United States census divisions increased 10.6% in September year over year.
The Dow Jones was flat at the close, with Apple sinking 2.11%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.73%, while Illumina decreased by 3.84%. The S&P 500 declined 0.16%. The euro was down by 0.08% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.03272.
