Global economy to slow toward 2023 - BoJ's Kuroda
Bank of Japan (BoJ) Governor Haruhiko Kuroda pointed out on Friday that "the global economy is expected to slow toward 2023."
The 2022 inflation rate globally is projected to be higher than in 2021, but is seen as decreasing in 2023, which also applies to Japan, he noted in a speech at a forum organized by the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office.
Uncertainties that could affect the global economic outlook are inflationary pressures, monetary policy tightening by central banks worldwide, the potential emergence of a wage-price spiral, "developments in the situation surrounding Ukraine and associated movements in prices of commodities," as well as COVID-19, Kuroda revealed.
