Apple speeds up plans to move China output - report
Apple Inc. is trying to expedite the transfer of some of its production out of China, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing unnamed participants of company discussions.
The US tech giant reportedly wants to rely less on Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., also known as Foxconn, alongside other Taiwanese assemblers with production facilities in China and has been instructing its suppliers to make plans to move output primarily to India and Vietnam.
Notably, the company from California had to delay the delivery of its products due to the recent COVID lockdown-related protests in the so-called "iPhone City" factory in Zhengzhou, underlining its concerns about the Chinese government pandemic policy and its effects on local production, according to the report.
