France beat Poland to reach World Cup QFs

France progressed in the World Cup quarterfinals after besting Poland 3-1 in a match played on Sunday.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the French side in the first half of the game and Kylian Mbappe with another two strikes guided his team to victory. Robert Lewandowski scored for the Polish side, putting him above Pele as the ninth all-time leading men's goalscorer.

The reigning champions have been strong favorites in every game in the group and knockout stages and remain the second favorite to win the tournament after five-time champion Brazil. The team is set to play the winner of England-Senegal next.
