Zelensky says Russia fired 70 missiles at Ukraine on Monday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his daily media address accused Russian forces of launching 70 missiles at Ukraine on Monday, noting, however, that most of the projectiles were shot down.

"Every downed Russian missile is concrete proof that terror can be defeated," Zelensky said. He added that Kiev doesn't have the power to "ensure complete security" to its skies and four people have been killed in the attack. The leader claimed the shelling resulted in interruptions to the Moldovan electricity supply and that "this once again proves that Russia's ability to carry out such massive terrorist attacks is a threat not only to Ukraine, but also the entire region."

Russia's latest barrage of missiles came in response to Ukraine using drones to attack two Russian military airfields in an apparent escalation of the conflict.
