US gov't-TikTok deal to be delayed again - report
The United States government and ByteDance Ltd.'s TikTok will likely fail to reach a final agreement to address US national security concerns with the app in the previously expected timeframe, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
Certain Biden administration officials are not satisfied with the preliminary deal the two sides reached earlier this year, and, considering that Republicans will have the majority in the US House of Representatives from 2023, want to impose a stricter agreement to resolve the data security concerns, according to unnamed sources briefed on the matter.
TikTok, which expects a "timely conclusion" of the agreement, has already agreed to store American consumer data on Oracle Corporation's servers in the US, it was said in the report.
