US to sell helicopters, tanks to Poland, S. Korea
The United States Department of State on Tuesday approved a sale of 116 M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks and other military equipment to Poland in a $3.75 billion transaction. The list of contractors includes BAE Systems plc, Honeywell International Inc. and Lockheed Martin Corporation, among others.
In a separate announcement, Washington approved a sale of 18 CH-47F helicopters and other military equipment to South Korea for $1.5 billion. The Boeing Company is the only contractor.
The transactions "will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States," the State Department claimed.
