China eases COVID restrictions further

China on Wednesday announced it will step further away from its strict lockdown measures implemented to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.

The country's National Health Commission (NHC) stated that cross-region travelers in China will no longer have to provide a negative COVID-19 test and that virus-infected people showing no symptoms or mild symptoms of the disease will be allowed to isolate for seven days at home instead of staying at a centralized quarantine facility.

The move comes after major cities including China's financial hub of Shanghai and its capital of Beijing began lifting some measures on Monday in light of protests that spread across the country against the government's stringent Covid controls.
