iPhone users to pay $11 for Twitter Blue - report

Twitter Inc. will start charging different subscription fees for its Blue check mark depending on the platform used, the Information reported. Users buying Blue via a web browser will pay $7, while those buying it through the iPhone app will pay $11, Twitter allegedly told some employees. Originally, the monthly subscription fee was set at $8. The report made no mention of the price for Android users.

Twitter owner Elon Musk alleged that iPhone maker Apple Inc. threatened to "withhold Twitter from its App Store," going as far as to promise to develop an "alternative phone" for his social network if necessary, although he later said the dispute was a "misunderstanding." He also criticized Apple's fee for apps and in-app purchases, calling it a "30% tax on the Internet."
