Uniper to reshuffle supervisory board
German energy giant Uniper SE announced changes to its Supervisory Board on Wednesday, revealing that the government will appoint two future members while Tom Blades will become the board's new chairman. Blades previously served as a senior executive at Siemens Energy and Linde plc.
Next to Blades, Jutta Donges, Marcus Schenck, and Ines Zenke will join the board in the latest reshuffle. According to a press release posted on Uniper's website, the members appointed by the federal government will succeed the representatives of the existing majority shareholder Fortum following the annual general meeting scheduled for December 19.
The changes come as part of the government's nationalization bailout plan. "Together with the new Supervisory Board, we want to strategically develop Uniper and return it to profitability," Uniper CEO Klaus-Dieter Maubach noted commenting on the decision.
