Musk: Oil, gas usage to peak long before 2073
Billionaire and electric carmaker Tesla founder Elon Musk said on Thursday that he expects the use of oil and gas as fuels to peak "long before" 2073.
Tweeting a response to JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon's remarks about fuel transition, Musk stated: "True, there will be a long tail of usage, but it will peak long before then." Earlier, Dimon told CNBC in Davos that oil and gas will be "necessary" for the next 50 years and added he expects oil prices to "probably go up the next 10 years."
Musk also responded to claims by Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Ahmed al-Jubeir that in the future there will be "no cars" with a simple "ahem..." Al-Jubeir had asserted that cars will be replaced with environmentally friendly modes of transportation based on renewable energy.
