Europe opens higher as WEF's final day begins

Major stock market indexes in Europe traded higher on Friday ahead as the final day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos was about to begin. Investors also somewhat shifted their focus and hope to the next week's economic schedule, which includes various reports on output across the Old Continent, most notably the one on consumer confidence in the Eurozone.

The DAX opened 0.45% higher as Zalando SE jumped by 3.54%. The FTSE 100 rose by 0.56%, with Sse PLC advancing by 3.11%. The CAC 40 increased by 0.65%. The Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.51%. TotalEnergies SE was the best performer on the latter two indexes, growing by 1.82%.

The euro went up by 0.11% against the dollar to sell for $1.08410 at 8:58 am CET. At the same time, the pound sterling lost 0.19% to the greenback to change hands for $1.23638.
