Salesforce jumps 4.5% in premarket on Elliott investment

Salesforce Inc. surged over 4% in premarket trading on Monday on the news that Elliott Management Corp. acquired a big stake in the company.

According to media reports, the activist investor made an investment worth billions of dollars in the business-software provider and said it had followed Salesforce for nearly two decades and developed a "deep respect" for it.

Salesforce shares rallied 4.67% to $158.31 at 8:07 am ET.
