Granholm: Biden would veto GOP bill on SPR
United States President Joe Biden would veto the Republican bill on banning releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) if it reaches his desk, US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said on Monday.
GOP lawmakers are looking to prohibit all SPR releases that are not coupled with plans by the government to allow additional leasing of federal land for energy production.
The Republican proposal would risk leading to an increase in energy prices and would be a "non-starter," Granholm told reporters at the White House.
