Germany officially clears delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
The German government announced on Wednesday that it will send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and also extended the authorization to other allies to export them.
"This decision follows our well-known line of supporting Ukraine to the best of our ability. We are acting closely coordinated and coordinated internationally," Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated at the Council of Ministers in Berlin, while stressing that in a "first step, Germany "will send the above-mentioned 14 units. However, "other European partners will hand over Leopard-2 tanks," he added.
The statement also noted that the training of the Ukrainian soldiers should start soon. Besides, the package will "include logistics, ammunition, and maintenance of the systems."
