Boeing pleads not guilty in 737 MAX fraud case
The Boeing Company pleaded not guilty on Thursday to fraud charges against it related to the fatal 737 MAX crashes from 2018 and 2019.
The plea was made by Boeing's Chief Safety Officer Mike Delaney during an appearance in a Texas court.
In 2022, the aerospace giant reached a settlement with the United States to pay a $200 million penalty over charges it mislead the public about the safety of the 737 MAX aircraft prior to the incidents. However, it was arraigned this month after relatives of some killed passengers objected to the settlement and Texas Judge Reed O'Connor ruled that the victims of the crashes are legally considered "crime victims."
