Wall Street opens mostly lower as earnings season wraps up
Major stock indexes in the United States opened the Friday session with losses as the earnings season slowly wraps up, with giants such as Apple, Google, and Meta all poised to release their quarterly results next week. Intel's disappointing fiscal report seemingly rekindled concerns regarding the economic outlook for 2023.
Meanwhile, the country's personal spending fell 0.2% in December 2022. Traders are now awaiting data on consumer confidence and pending home sales.
The Dow Jones was flat at the opening bell. The S&P 500 lost 0.23% at 9:30 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 declined 0.42% at the open. Intel was the worst performer on all three indexes, dragging them down by 9.72% at 9:31 am ET. The euro was 0.38% below the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.08500.
