British soldier charged with two terror offenses
The Metropolitan Police said that a British Army soldier was charged with terror and explosives offense on Friday over his involvement in two incidents in Staffordshire that took place in August 2021 and January 2023.
The 21-year-old soldier, named Daniel Abed Khalif, has been accused of "eliciting or attempting to elicit information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism" in Beaconside in August 2021.
On the other charge, Khalif was accused of placing a story "with the intention of inducing in another a belief that the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property" on January 2. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
