British MP says UK must face Russia 'directly' in Ukraine
Tobias Ellwood, chairman of the United Kingdom defense committee and member of the parliament, told Sky News on Monday that Britain must face Russia "directly" in Ukraine and avoid leaving Kiev to "do all the work."
"It is up to the Treasury and Number 10 to recognize the world is changing - we are now at war in Europe, we need to move to a war footing," Ellwood said. "We are involved in that, we have mobilized our procurment processes, we are gifting equipment," he stressed in the interview.
The head of the defense select committee also said that the British army is in a "dire state," and urged the government to reverse "swathing cuts" to the army. "Our army is simply too small, we have cut down by 10,000 troops," Ellwood added.
