US stock futures decline as investors eye earnings
Major stocks in the United States recorded slight losses during Tuesday's premarket trade as the earnings season heated up, with another batch of corporate financial results releasing throughout the day.
The previous day was marked by news the Biden administration plans to end remaining COVID-19 national emergencies on May 11, despite calls from some Republican legislators to introduce the measure sooner. Investors were also focused on tomorrow's interest rate decision from the Federal Reserve, which is expected to push key rates by a modest 25 points.
The Dow Jones fell by 0.26%, while the Nasdaq 100 lost 0.37% at 4:33 am ET. The S&P 500 simultaneously declined by 0.27%, heading for its best January since 2019. The euro dropped 0.20% against the dollar to sell for 1.08241 a minute later.
