US turns to gains at open after earnings influx
Major stocks in the United States opened in the positive territory on Tuesday as the latest batch of corporate financial results reports poured in. Pfizer, Caterpillar, McDonald's, ExxonMobil, General Motors, Spotify, and UPS all revealed their fourth-quarter results in the last couple of hours. The meeting of the US Federal Reserve that will determine the latest rate hike also kicks off today.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.19% at the opening bell. The best performer was United Health Group, with its shares increasing by 2.97%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.10%, as Meta advanced 1.7%. The S&P 500 increased by 0.17%, with A.O. Smith surging by 10.70%.
The euro traded 0.13% higher against the dollar at 8:58 am ET to sell for 1.08593.
