Eurozone unemployment rate at 6.6% in December
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area was 6.6% in December, in comparison to November's 6.5% rate, Eurostat revealed in its report on Wednesday, and down from 7% on an annual basis.
In the entire European Union, the unemployment rate slightly altered to 6.1% in December from 6% the previous month. Year over year, the figure was down from 6.4%.
EU member states with the highest rates of unemployment were Spain with 13.1%, followed by Greece with 11.6%. On the other hand, countries with the lowest unemployment rate were Czechia with 2.3%, while the unemployment rate in both Germany and Poland stood at 2.9%.
