Cavusoglu: Turkey working to extend grain deal

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu (pictured) stated on Friday that Ankara is working to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative which is due to expire on March 18.

Addressing the matter at a press conference, the minister confirmed that Turkey is "making efforts" to extend the deal, this time "maybe even longer," keeping in mind the importance of exported grain for global food security.

Cavusoglu noted that the aim is to ensure that the agreement proceeds "without problems," stressing that when issues arise Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan always negotiates with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts.
