Michel: EU to support Ukraine on way to join bloc
European Council President Charles Michel arrived in Kiev on Friday for a summit with his fellow European Union representatives and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and vowed to keep supporting Ukraine in its conflict against Russia and on its way to join the bloc.
"There will be no let up in our resolve. We will also support you every step of the way on your journey to the EU," Michel tweeted.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell arrived in Kiev on Thursday and already held some meetings with Ukrainian officials. The talks are set to continue today. Meanwhile, Zelensky claimed Ukraine "deserves" to begin EU membership talks this year.
