Eurozone producer prices up by 1.1% in December
Producer prices in the Eurozone and the entire European Union rose by 1.1% and 1.2%, respectively, in December 2022 when compared to the revised figure the month prior, the European Commission's statistical office Eurostat announced in a report released on Friday. Meanwhile, year over year, the index recorded a 24.6% increase in the euro area and 25.2% in the EU.
According to the report, by industrial groups, in the eurozone, the energy sector experienced an increase of 48.6% annually, followed by gains in non-durable consumer goods and intermediate goods of 15.6% and 13.8%. Prices excluding energy rose by 12.3%. On the other hand, in the EU, industrial prices rose by 49.6% in the energy sector, followed by non-durable consumer goods, with a rise of 16.7%, and intermediate goods, with a gain of 14%.
The statistical office said that all the Member States saw positive results, with the highest yearly gains registered in Hungary, Latvia, and Romania, up by 62.7%, 49.4%, and 41.9%, respectively.
