Fed's Powell: Trump called me from time to time
United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell revealed on Tuesday that former US President Donald Trump used to call him "from time to time."
During his time at the White House, Trump repeatedly criticized Powell for not cutting interest rates, even before the coronavirus-caused economic crisis.
Speaking at The Economic Club of Washington DC today, Powell also confirmed that he hadn't had any calls from current US President Joe Biden, but that he meets regularly with members of his administration, in accordance with the decades-long practice.
