Biden: We'll make sure US supply chain begins in US
United States President Joe Biden said in his State of the Union address that he will strengthen supply chains and make sure that "the supply chain for America begins in America." He said the United States only produces 10% of global semiconductors and that the CHIPS act is helping boost domestic production.
Biden said that the US created 800,000 new manufacturing jobs even before the legislation and promised that the CHIPS act will create "hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country." He said businesses have pledged to invest $300 billion in manufacturing in the US "over the next few years." The president promised that all construction materials used in federal infrastructure projects will be made in the US. "On my watch, American roads bridges and highways are going to be made with American products as well," he said.
