Florida passes bill on Disney's special tax district

Shortly after the House, Florida's Senate also greenlighted the legislation that will allow Walt Disney Co. to self-govern the land that hosts its theme parks.

The bill adjusting the governance over a special tax district near Orlando will now reach Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to sign it into force.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District is scheduled to become the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, for which DeSantis will be able to appoint a supervisor board. However, Disney will still have to pay nearly $1 billion for the district's infrastructure.
