Saudi Arabia to send female astronaut to ISS
Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday that it will send two astronauts, Ali al-Qarni and Rayyanah Barnawi, its first female astronaut, to the International Space Station during the second quarter of 2023.
They will be a part of the Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2), a private crew mission that will be carried out by Axiom Space Inc. The effort will be led by spacecraft commander Peggy Whitson and pilot John Shoffner, both from the United States.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s (SpaceX) Crew Dragon spacecraft will take the four astronauts to the ISS for the mission that is planned to take 16 days.
