European gas drops over 3% on weaker demand
European gas prices for future contracts declined over 3% on Friday, with the Dutch TTF natural gas futures, which serve as the benchmark across the continent, coming down to its lowest level since December 2021, selling below €50 per megawatt hour.
The demand for the commodity seemingly reduced owing to warmer-than-expected temperatures for this time of the year.
For deliveries in March, UK natural gas futures slipped 3.48% to go for 125.000 pence per therm at 8:40 am CET. The Dutch TTF for settlements in March dropped by 4.25% selling at €49.80 per megawatt hour a minute later.
