EU pushes back Microsoft-Activision deal decision to April 25
The European Commission revealed in a filing posted on its website on Wednesday that it has decided to postpone its decision on the Microsoft Corporation's possible acquisition of Activision Blizzard Inc. for April 25, extending the deadline by 10 working days.
The probe into the deal was launched back in November, as concerns were raised that the deal, valued at $69 billion, could disrupt the markets and lead to a reduction in the competition "for the distribution of console and PC video games, including multi-game subscription services and/or cloud game streaming services, and for PC operating systems."
The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) raised similar concerns in its lawsuit aiming to block the merger.
