US opens higher with monetary policy in limelight
Major stock indexes in the United States traded higher at the open on Friday, as investors looked back on the most recent Federal Reserve remarks, alongside earnings reports. Several central bank officials are expected to possibly give further cues with regard to the monetary policy later today. Meanwhile, traders will also be keeping an eye on composite and services PMI data in the country.
The Dow Jones gained 0.37% or 120 points at the opening bell, with Apple adding 2.05% at 9:31 am ET. The S&P 500 rose 0.42% at 9:30 am ET and the Nasdaq 100 increased 0.55% at the open. Broadcom was the best performer on both indexes, advancing 3.42% at 9:31 am ET.
The euro was 0.14% up against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.06151.
