Putin says Russia plans to store tactical nuclear arms in Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia plans to station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, the state-owned TASS news agency reported on Saturday.

The Russian leader reportedly stated that Moscow agreed on the issue with the government in Minsk and that the deployment of such weapons will not violate non-proliferation agreements. "There is nothing unusual here either," said Putin. "The United States has been doing this for decades. They have long placed their tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of their allies," he explained.

The report comes as tensions between Russia and Ukraine are at an all-time high, raising concerns that the conflict may spread to other countries in the area.
