Trump: Europe is almost as bad as China on trade
Former United States President Donald Trump said at his first 2024 campaign rally that "Europe is almost as bad as China having to do with trade," adding that the European Union "rips us off just like everybody." He also said Canada is taking advantage of the US and that President Joe Biden made an unfavorable trade deal with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trump claimed he had a "great relationship with China" during his time in office. "We put massive tariffs, we took hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars out of China," he said. "I was beating China so badly," he alleged, saying that he was forced to stop when the COVID-19 pandemic started. He said that China "was in deep trouble because we had all the power" during his administration. "The problem isn't China, the problem is stupid people that have to deal with China," referencing Biden and the Democratic leadership.
