Wall Street rallies at open, Dow surges 200 points
New York stock exchanges opened Wednesday's trading session in the green territory, rebounding from previously registered losses the day earlier. Investors have their eyes on the pending house sales data which will drop over the opening bell.
The positive sentiment was seemingly boosted by the Lululemon Athetica Inc.'s rally after the apparel retailer posted better-than-expected financial results for the final fiscal 2022 quarter. Additionally, the news that First Republic Bank is apparently no longer considering a sale appeared to ease concerns about the banking sector.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 236 points or 0.77%, with Intel Corporation soaring 3.89%. The Nasdaq 100 surged 1.25%, with Lululemon skyrocketing 13.94%. The S&P 500 rose 0.96%, as Illumina Inc. gained 4.90%.
The euro slipped 0.08% against the dollar, to sell at $1.08366 at 9:29 am ET.
