Europe lower at open following UK's CPI report
Major stock indexes in Europe traded lower at the open on Wednesday as investors digested the latest data from the United Kingdom. Although the country's annual inflation in March declined compared to the February reading, it was still higher than expected. Later, reports on the Eurozone's consumer prices and construction output will be released.
The DAX traded with a 0.21% loss at the opening bell, with Vonovia slipping 1.55% at 9:01 am CET. The CAC 40 was flat at 9:04 am CET. The FTSE 100 declined 0.24% at the open, with Antofagasta sliding 2.32% at 9:01 am CET. The Euro Stoxx 50 edged down 0.07% at the beginning of the session, as ASML tumbled 3.23% at 9:02 am CET.
The euro was down 0.15% against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 1.09560. Meanwhile, the pound traded 0.24% higher versus the greenback, going for 1.24548 simultaneously.
