Europe mostly lower at open, all eyes on ECB

Major stock exchanges in Europe opened the Thursday session trading mostly lower as investors turned their attention to the release of the European Central Bank's minutes, slated for today. Some ECB officials previously expressed it is too early to be considering a rate hike pause. On the data front, German producer prices rose 7.5% in March.

The DAX lost 0.20% at the opening bell, as Volkswagen dipped 1.74% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 slipped 0.14% at 9:00 am CET, with Antofagasta tumbling 3.72% a minute later. At the open, the CAC 40 declined 0.10%, as Renault tumbled 3.40% at 9:01 am CET. The Euro Stoxx 50 stood flat at the beginning of the session.

The euro traded 0.11% above the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for 1.09665. The pound was flat against the greenback to go for 1.24407 concurrently.
