Microsoft: CMA decision to affect investments in UK

Microsoft President Brad Smith argued on Thursday that the European Union is now a better place to launch a business compared to the United Kingdom following London's decision to leave the bloc in 2020.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Smith insisted that yesterday's decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to block the tech giant's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard was "shocking," and that it will prompt businesses to reconsider investing in the UK.

"For all of us who had some hope that post-Brexit, the UK would construct a structure that would be more flexible, be better for investment, be better for technology, we're now finding that the opposite appears to be true," Smith said.
