VP: AI companies have 'moral' duty to protect users
United States Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday pointed out that companies that use artificial intelligence (AI) have a "moral" and "ethical" responsibility to protect their users.
"AI is one of today's most powerful technologies, with the potential to improve people's lives and tackle some of society's biggest challenges. At the same time, AI has the potential to dramatically increase threats to safety and security ...," the vice president argued during the meeting with the chief executive officers of the leading tech companies, such as Microsoft, Alphabet, OpenAI, and Anthropic, that employ artificial intelligence.
"Every company must comply with existing laws to protect the American people," Harris underscored.
