Microsoft seals fusion energy supply deal with Helion
American fusion research company Helion Energy, Inc. agreed to supply Microsoft Corporation with electricity starting in 2028, the tech giant announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The move would allow Microsoft to benefit from so far less commercialized fusion technology which holds a promise of near-limitless clean energy.
Microsoft's Vice Chair and President Brad Smith remarked that the deal aligns with the company's "long term clean energy goals," predicting it would help develop a novel approach to rapidly incorporate fusion-acquired electricity into the grid.
