Twitter reportedly says Microsoft used its data improperly
Twitter Inc., now going under he name X Corp., accused Microsoft Corporation of using its data improperly, The New York Times reported on Thursday, citing a letter sent to the latter's CEO, Satya Nadella.
In the letter, Twitter claimed that the tech giant has breached an agreement with regard to its data while declining to pay for that usage. Microsoft allegedly not only used more data than it was supposed to but also shared this data with government agencies without getting permission to do so. "Microsoft may have been in violation of multiple provisions of the agreement for an extended period of time," the personal lawyer of Twitter owner Elon Musk, Alex Spiro, underlined in the letter.
The social media platform noted that Microsoft's apps "accessed Twitter's APIs over 780 million times and retrieved over 26 billion tweets in 2022 alone." Twitter requested identification of all of its content that the tech giant currently possesses or controls.
