Samsung scraps study to make Microsoft's Bing its default browser

The world's largest smartphone producer, Samsung Electronics, will not change its default search engine on its devices from Google to Microsoft's Bing any time soon, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, quoting people familiar with the matter.

The South Korean company previously opened an internal review to explore swapping the applications. However, the WSJ report quoted a source saying that Samsung canceled the study.

The change was set to hand Microsoft a victory over Alphabet at a time when the firm has renewed expectations about its AI-powered Bing browser. Google, Microsoft, and Samsung declined to comment.
