US, South Korea to hold large-scale military drills
The United States and South Korea will begin large-scale military exercises on Thursday to mark the 70th anniversary of their alliance. This will be the first time in six years that the two countries will conduct live-fire drills, Yonhap reported. They will take place around 52 km northeast of Seoul and will be the first in a series of five to be carried out until mid-June.
The exercise is expected to include military equipment such as the F-35A radar-evading fighters, AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, K2 battle tanks and multiple launch rocket systems, as well as A-10 attack aircraft and F-16 fighter jets, according to South Korean officials. North Korea has already condemned the drills, warning the US and South Korea they can expect "corresponding responses."
