Europe opens lower as UK inflation stagnates

Major European stocks opened Wednesday's session with losses as investors focused on the latest inflation data from the United Kingdom. Earlier today, the data showed that British inflation exceeded market expectations last month by remaining unchanged year-over-year, further applying pressures on the Bank of England and Downing Street.

The FTSE 100 declined by 0.62% at the opening bell, with Natwest Group plunging 2.94%. The DAX slipped by 0.16%, led by Covestro AG's 2.04% decline. The CAC 40 lost 0.31%, as Veolia Environnement slid 1.32%. The Euro Stoxx 50 went down by 0.18% at the same time, with Vonovia SE decreasing by 1.76%.

The euro traded 0.07% in the red against the dollar to sell for 1.09101 at 8:57 am CET, while the pound added 0.10% to $1.27776.
