Europe closes mostly higher with economy in focus
Major stock market indexes in Europe closed mostly higher on Tuesday after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicted the global economy to grow by 3.0%, a slightly higher estimate than in April. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank's newest Bank Lending Survey showed a significant decline in loan demand.
The DAX rose by 0.13% and the Eurostoxx 50 gained 0.16%. Adidas AG was the best performer on both of those indexes, jumping by 3.83% at 5:35 pm CET. The FTSE 100 increased by 0.20%, with Antofagasta PLC soaring by 6.79%. On the other hand, the CAC 40 decreased by 0.20% as Dassault Systemes SE plunged by 4.95%.
The euro lost 0.13% to the dollar to sell for $1.10497 at 5:28 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling grew by 0.24% against the United States currency to change hands for $1.28575.
