Europe closes lower after services data

Major European stock indexes finished the Tuesday session trading lower following disappointing services data. Services activity in the euro area, Germany, and the United Kingdom contracted in August. In addition, producer prices in the Eurozone fell 0.5% in July.

The DAX declined 0.34% at the closing bell, as Commerzbank slumped 6.10%. At the same time, the CAC 40 lost 0.34%, with Eurofins Scientific down 2.64%. The Euro Stoxx 50 finished with a 0.25% loss, as Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize plunged 6.07%. The FTSE 100 fell 0.20% at the close, with B&M decreasing 3.39%.

The euro tumbled 0.78% against the dollar at 5:32 pm CET, hitting its lowest point since June and selling for 1.07121. The pound traded 0.49% below the greenback to go for 1.25643 simultaneously.
