EIA: US crude inventories down by 6.3 million barrels

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, not considering those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), went down by 6.3 million barrels to 416.6 million barrels in the week ending September 1, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) stated in its report published on Thursday.

Oil refinery inputs averaged 16.6 million barrels per day (bpd) during the week ending September 1, rising by 20,000 bpd compared to the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 93.1% of their operable capacity. Meanwhile, gasoline production dropped and averaged 9.8 million bpd.

Crude oil imports went up by 154,000 bpd week-on-week to average 6.8 million bpd. Total commercial petroleum inventories climbed by 0.4 million barrels last week.
