Nikkei plunges 1.4% on underwhelming GDP digits
Major stock equities traded lower on Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 leading the losses following cooler-than-expected economic growth projection.
The Nikkei 225 tumbled 1.42% at 7:15 am CET, and South Korea's Kospi lost 0.57%. The Shanghai Composite was down by 0.40% and the Shenzhen Composite dipped 0.26%. Australian S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.41%. A minute later, the dollar was flat against the Japanese yen, selling at 147.2250.
Meanwhile, trading on Hong Kong Stock Exchange was halted following record-breaking flash flooding in the area.
