Baker Hughes: US oil rig count up by 1 to 513
The number of oil rigs in the United States rose by one, on a weekly basis, to 513 in the week ending September 8, the Baker Hughes rig count data released on Friday revealed. Year over year, oil rigs slumped by 78.
The US gas rig count declined by one to 113 during the same week, while it fell by 53 compared to last year. The total number of rigs in the country currently stands at 632, up by one from last week but tumbling by 127 from the previous year.
In Canada, the total rig count stood at 182, down by five from last week and decreasing by 23 compared to 12 months ago. The number of oil rigs slipped by two to 113 and the number of gas rigs declined by three to 69. On an annual level, Canada lost 27 oil rigs, while the number of gas rigs was up by four.
